USEFUL EXPRESSIONS FOR BUSINESS STUDENTS

Hello, folks!
From now on, I´m writing some posts about very useful expressions in English you can use to communicate better. So let´s start!

AIRY-FAIRY
This expression is very common in the UK and means something "unreal, difficult to put into practice".
Example: I´m sick of his airy-fairy ideas!
Estou farto das ideias impraticáveis dele!

AN ARM AND A LEG
This expression means "very expensive, too much money". Like in Portuguese when we say: "os olhos da cara".
Example: This suit cost me an arm and a leg.

AS IF!
This expression is used when you want to be a bit ironic, when you consider something really difficult to happen, although you´d love to. Like the Portuguese expression: "quem me dera!".

Example:

A - I´m sure your boss will give you a pay rise.
B - As if!
