  1. In my opinion, starting your own business is a great opportunity, but it also comes with many responsibities.
Being your own boss gives you freedom and the chance to follow your passion. You can make your own decisions and possibly earn more than working for someone else.
However, it's not always easy. Yu have to deal with financial risks, long working hours, and the pressure of making everything work. Not everyone is prepared for that.

Yes, I would be interested in establishing my own business. I believe that entrepreneurship provides greater autonomy in decision-making, as well as opportunities for both professional and personal development. Moreover, owning a business enables the implementation of one’s own ideas and values, which can be highly fulfilling.

I am acquainted with several individuals who have chosen to start their own businesses. My overall impression is positive, particularly when the initiative is supported by thorough planning and commitment. The main advantages include increased independence, flexible working hours, and the potential for higher earnings. However, there are also significant challenges, such as financial uncertainty, a heavier workload, and the responsibility of managing all aspects of the enterprise. Thus, proper preparation and planning are essential.

In Brazil, there are various initiatives and programs designed to encourage entrepreneurship. SEBRAE (Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises) is a key institution that offers training, consultancy, and guidance to aspiring and current entrepreneurs. Additionally, there are specific credit programs for small business owners and simplified legal structures, such as the MEI (Individual Microentrepreneur), which facilitate the formalization of small enterprises.

Indeed. In Brazil, the tax obligations of entrepreneurs vary according to the legal structure and tax regime adopted by the business. For instance, the MEI is required to pay a fixed monthly amount that includes social security contributions (INSS) and a small tax related to the business activity (ICMS or ISS). Companies under regimes such as Simples Nacional, Presumed Profit, or Real Profit are subject to more complex and variable taxation. Therefore, it is crucial for entrepreneurs to understand the appropriate classification for their business in order to ensure compliance and avoid future tax-related issues.

  3. In my opinion, starting your own business is challenging. At first, you need to make a large investment. Despite this, I want to start a business in the world of photography. Photography excites me and gives me a different perspective on things.

Here in Brazil, the federal government offers programs for entrepreneurs, facilitating access to credit with lower interest rates. There is the possibility of renegotiating debts with more flexible terms and also access to financing such as working capital, investment and expansion.

  4. In 2025, start a business is exciting but also very difficult. One big challenge are the rise of AI. Many jobs and services is changing fast, and small business need to adapt quickly. I think it's important to study, make a good plan, and keep learn new skills. I would like to open my own business someday, maybe in the food area. Great topic to practice English and think about the future!

  5. At the moment, I can't see myself going into business

Yes, I think so, I think it's really cool and it's a lot of work. I think it's balanced, there are a lot of positive points, like the fact that you're your own boss, you can also give people the opportunity to start working, as well as being able to work with something you like, you have to know how to deal with the problems that arise.

Entrepreneurship is a bit complicated, it's a very bureaucratic process and the economy fluctuates a lot, so many people still choose to have their own business when they can't find a job or for extra income. There are some programs for starting your own business such as Sebrae that encourage people to start their own business or to take a course so that they can take care of their business.

Yes, there are some taxes, such as PIS and ISS, that entrepreneurs have to pay to maintain their business.

  6. Yes, I would like to open my own business and I know people who have succeeded and some who have failed. Starting a business in Brazil today is certainly not easy because taxes are high and the country does not encourage entrepreneurs, in other words, it is not an easy task, not to mention the bureaucracy that surrounds it!

  7. I’m currently an entrepreneur, and it’s really hard to run a business right now. Our country has many taxes, and high inflation makes us increase prices. This affects sales because it’s a chain — everything is more expensive, and that increases the cost of providing the service.

While we go through these ups and downs with inflation, and people are trying just to survive, it becomes harder to stay in business as an entrepreneur. My service is entertainment, so it is considered non-essential in family expenses.

  8. Hi, everyone! Yes, I’d like to have my own business — in fact, I already started one called Sabor e Nutrição, where I sell healthy meals and detox juices. I know other people who also started their own businesses. I think it’s a good idea, but it takes a lot of work.

Having your own business has good and hard parts. The good part is that you can choose your schedule and work with something you like. The hard part is that you have to take care of everything: money, customers, and taxes.

In Brazil, there are programs to help people start, like Sebrae, which gives courses and advice. There’s also something called MEI, a simple way to open a small business and pay fewer taxes. But it’s still important to know what taxes you need to pay, like INSS and others.

In general, I think having a business is a good chance to grow and build something of your own.

This article provides a great overview of the key challenges entrepreneurs are likely to face in 2025. I found the points about adapting to rapid technological change and balancing sustainability with profitability particularly relevant.

It's interesting to see how the entrepreneurial mindset needs to evolve alongside global trends like AI, remote work, and environmental responsibility.

  10. This report highlights a growing global challenge, fear of failure is holding back potential entrepreneurs, even as opportunities arise. The rise in hesitation from 44% to 49% is concerning, especially alongside uncertainty about AI’s role. Stronger support systems, as suggested, could empower more people to take the leap. It’s also interesting to see the UAE maintaining its top spot despite slight declines. GEM’s 25 years of insights remain invaluable for shaping entrepreneurial policies worldwide.

  12. Yes, I would like to have my own business. I have already owned a car wash and a gel nail kiosk, so I know a little about what it’s like to run a business. It’s great to work with something you enjoy and have freedom, but it also requires a lot of effort and there are many challenges, especially in the beginning.

I know some people who started their own businesses and, with hard work, some have been successful. Working for yourself has advantages, like choosing your own hours, but also disadvantages, like unstable income and having to take care of everything alone.

Here in Brazil, there are programs like SEBRAE that help new entrepreneurs with courses and loans. The MEI system also makes it easier to start, with lower taxes, paying a fixed monthly fee that covers social security and other taxes.

I think starting a business in 2025 is a great opportunity, but it’s important to be prepared and to seek good information before starting.

Hello! I recently managed to open my own business after a lot of planning and many sleepless nights. I chose to start my own company, and the challenges are huge. The beginning is not easy, but by strictly following our plan, we’ve been able to stay in the market.

I believe there are more advantages to being an entrepreneur. Your income is directly related to your efforts. On the other hand, with a formal job (CLT), you may have financial security, but your earnings are not always proportional to what you deliver.

In Brazil, more and more people are choosing to become entrepreneurs, especially due to low wages. Because of this, many decide to take the risk in search of higher earnings. However, unfortunately, our country still doesn’t offer real financial incentives for micro-entrepreneurs — mostly just training opportunities.

Yes, we’re aware of the laws and regulations we need to follow to keep a business running. And taxes are, without a doubt, the biggest burden for a small company.

I recommend entrepreneurship to anyone who has determination and strength. The path is tough, but it’s worth it!

  17. The GEM 2024/2025 report brings very important reflections on the current state of entrepreneurship. What stood out to me the most was the increase in the fear of failure, even with so many tools and information available nowadays. This shows that, more than infrastructure, what many people really need is psychological support, guidance, and a sense of security to take the first step.

Another point that made me think was the low perception of the importance of artificial intelligence among entrepreneurs. I see AI as a great ally for innovation and efficiency, so it's concerning that so many still don't see it as a priority. Perhaps this is a result of the lack of access to technological education in many regions.

At the same time, I found it inspiring to see examples like the United Arab Emirates, which show how well-structured public policies can transform a country into a reference for entrepreneurship support. This gives me hope that, with the right planning, Brazil can also move forward significantly in this area.

In summary, this report made me realize that entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, but about having support, a vision for the future, and the courage to take risks.

  18. Entrepreneurship in 2025 continues to be a major challenge, but also an opportunity for growth and autonomy. Having your own business attracts many people because of the freedom of working hours and the possibility of higher earnings, although it brings risks such as financial instability and a lack of fixed benefits.

I know people who have started small businesses, service providers and online businesses. In the beginning, they face bureaucracy, high costs and insecurity, but with dedication and planning, many thrive.

In Brazil, there are incentives such as the MEI, which makes it easier to formalize with fewer taxes and obligations. Programs like those run by SEBRAE offer support and training. Even so, the tax burden is an obstacle. Even micro-entrepreneurs have to pay taxes such as DAS, ISS and municipal fees.
Despite the difficulties, entrepreneurship is a viable option for those who seek independence and have a proactive profile. Success depends on preparation, persistence and adapting to the market.

  19. Currently, I’m not interested in starting my own business. Although I recognize the opportunities that entrepreneurship can offer, I prefer to focus on other professional areas.

I know several people who decided to become entrepreneurs. Many of them highlight the satisfaction of being their own boss and the flexibility that comes with owning a business. However, they also mention challenges, such as the intense dedication required and the constant responsibility.

In my view, the advantages of working for yourself outweigh the disadvantages. Autonomy, growth potential, and the personal fulfillment of building something from scratch are strong positives. On the other hand, there are downsides like financial risk, instability, and continuous pressure to perform. Therefore, the decision to start a business should be carefully evaluated based on each person’s profile and goals.

In Brazil, there are various programs to encourage entrepreneurship. One example is the “Start-up Brasil” program, which supports the development of early-stage tech-based companies by offering funding, mentorship, and access to international markets. There are also initiatives from SEBRAE-SP that offer training, consulting, and support for micro and small businesses across São Paulo state.

When it comes to taxes, entrepreneurs in Brazil face a significant tax burden. According to data from the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), companies in Brazil pay an average corporate tax rate of 34%, one of the highest in the world. Moreover, the complexity of Brazil’s tax system is another major challenge for entrepreneurs.

  20. Hi, everyone! How are you? I really liked the topic of this post and decided to share a bit of my opinion about having your own business, especially in 2025.

Yes, I do want to have my own business. Actually, my dream is to open a stationery store because I’ve always loved stationery items, organization, and everything related to creativity. I think it would be very rewarding to work with something I truly enjoy.

But of course, I know that being an entrepreneur isn’t easy, especially in another country. There are many challenges at the beginning, like low demand, bureaucracy, taxes, and even understanding how the local market works. I’ve seen people go through that, and the beginning is always tough. But with effort and patience, many of them were able to grow, and today they have stable businesses. That really inspires me.

I think working for yourself has its pros and cons. On one hand, you have more freedom and autonomy. On the other hand, you have more responsibilities, risks, and uncertainty. That’s why good planning and preparation are so important.

In Brazil, there are some programs to encourage entrepreneurship, like free courses, credit lines, and support for small businesses. But we still face many challenges, especially with taxes and constantly changing regulations.

In the end, entrepreneurship is not easy, but I believe that with dedication, good ideas, and determination, it’s possible to build something solid and grow the business little by little.

  22. At the moment, I’m not interested in becoming an entrepreneur. However, I do have the desire to start a business someday — especially in an area focused on producing sustainable products. Creating something from scratch, with authenticity and responsibility, while having autonomy, really appeals to me. It would allow me to align my personal values with my work and create a positive impact in the world.

Yes, I have a friend who owns a dance studio that she opened less than three years ago. She tells me it’s very challenging — it requires discipline, sacrifices, and a lot of hard work. This includes working late on Saturdays and, if necessary, even on Sundays. From what I see, entrepreneurship is truly demanding and requires strong mental health and resilience, as entrepreneurs have to deal with many responsibilities at the same time. I believe the advantages and disadvantages are balanced. While working independently offers schedule flexibility and freedom, it also brings financial instability and a lot of responsibility.

In Brazil, there are several programs that support entrepreneurs. For example, Sebrae offers courses, consulting services, and guidance for people who want to start their own business.

Entrepreneurship is both challenging and rewarding. Believing in the future and in the potential of your own business is inspiring. In addition, running your own company gives you more control over your time and daily routine, which can significantly improve your quality of life.

  23. Good evening, I wouldn’t like to have my own business; at the moment, I don’t see myself becoming an entrepreneur. I know people who have started their own business, and I’ve heard several accounts of how difficult and challenging it is to make that kind of decision. There are advantages and disadvantages — one advantage is having control of the company and making decisions as you see fit, and one disadvantage is the discouragement and lack of support to take the first step.

In Brazil, there are countless entrepreneurs, but many of them go bankrupt within three years. Despite that, there are some incentive programs, both from the government and institutions such as Sebrae, Senai, among others.

To open your own business, there are some things that must be paid, such as permits, licenses, and others. In light of all these situations, in my view, there’s still a lot to improve — the government could act as a facilitator for entrepreneurs. This, in turn, would benefit everyone, from the consumer to the government itself, helping the economy move forward.

I believe working for yourself can be very rewarding, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. The biggest advantages are independence and flexibility, but the disadvantages include financial risk and stress.

In my country, there are some government programs that help people start businesses, like small business loans and training courses. However, the bureaucracy can be a big obstacle, and it takes a lot of patience to go through the process.

Entrepreneurs here have to pay taxes like income tax, social contributions, and sometimes special taxes depending on their type of business. That’s why having a good accountant is really important.

Overall, I think entrepreneurship is a great opportunity for those who are passionate and prepared to face the risks.

  25. In Brazil, incentives for entrepreneurship are scarce. Public policies do not support small entrepreneurs in establishing themselves in the market, and competition with large companies is unfair. I have never owned a business in my name, but I have worked in a family business. My family did their best to keep the doors open, but the business closed. It is clear that from the first years of school through high school, students are guided and directed towards a career as collaborators; this biased approach undermines dreams. I emphasize that public policies and education aimed at entrepreneurship, together with tax reductions and a reduction in bureaucracy, could boost the economy, also generating cash flow within the context of microentrepreneurs.
